Alcohol. Yes wow, I am actually going to cover this too. There have been many many studies over the years trying to prove the health benefits of The Drink. Wine has been proven time and time again to have the most benefits of abll. (More recently even to some extent to have the same impact as grapes, but I am sooo not going there).
But I am going to look at the negative aspect of alcohol, mostly because far to few people use it for benefiting a healthier lifestyle and quite frankly it is over used in many areas.

What you don't know about Alcohol
Beer is actually high in yeast. And overindulging in yeast can serve as a breeding ground for other more serious health afflictions. Such as yeast infections. Many people report an increase in yeast infections with an overconsumption of yeast in the system.
Not to mention under very high stress a yeast infection of the skin can occur as well. (This is because your system under much stress tends to "forget" about other things since your immune system maybe fighting off another virus at the time, leaving you open for other more serious viruses.)
Sugar. This one is a biggie. Lots of sugar or fermentation is going on in some of the finer bottles of drinks we find. This is tough on the liver.
Already doing overtime for the alcohol content, but if there is to much sugar floating around then kidneys are doing overtime too.

Over Indulging
Ok, so who hasn't? And if you can honestly say that you have never ever, not even once felt the smidge of a hangover then you are smart and can moderate yourself. (That or you are an underage minor who shouldn't be reading this page anyway ;o))
No, that does not mean that the rest of us are dumb, just lucky them. Hangovers are such a pain! They can take up to 3 days to fully recover, all you do is sleep, or worse throw up, and you crave McDonalds.
Ok, just so I am clear here this is what is happening...
- You want to have a few drinks to relax and unwind after a long day, week, year, life etc, etc.
- You crack open a bottle, or use the opener and take a swig but it just tastes so darn good you have another.
- And another,
- And another,
- And another,
- And holy crap it's 4:30 am and you have to be up in 2 hours.
- You take a cat nap, and drag your butt out of bed and brush your teeth four times to remove the furries on them and the booze breath.
- Your still dizzy and you decide water is going to cut it, only to find that it makes you want to vomit.
- After another trip to the washroom only to find out that you are out of toilet paper you are ready for another day.
- Lunch will be bought or else you'll be sleeping on the couch.
- Doesn't matter.. Too tired.. Must sleep..
- 8 hours pass and you aren't going anywhere except to the phone to make a call to the pizza joint. (This is because alcohol increases your appetite).
- Can't eat it warm? Cool it off in the fridge.. No worries.
- Eat, drink and be merry.
GROSS, GROSS, GROSS.
What's in a Hangover anyway?
The main causes for a hangover are the depletion of essential nutrients. Lack of Vitamin C and potassium are the major contributors of the ever dreaded hangover. It used to be thought that juice or an orange where the best cure.
And yes juice is great because it gives the body a small increase in sugars. However, strawberries have the highest Vitamin C content above all other berries. These are best used to cure the "what did I do last night" hang over.
Oh, and did I mention that alcohol is actually a relative of Cannabis? That's right! So for all you folks (myself included) who are anti drug.. maybe we should consider that it is also in a drop of alcohol.
