Carrots: How to Grow them and use them In Recipes!

Carrots to Decrease Night Blindness?

But is there any truth to it?

Actually.. There is.

Because night blindness or a lack of being able to adjust to dim or dark lighting is caused by a lack of Vitamin A, eating just one of this vegetable every couple of days can increase the nutrient in the body just enough.

But did you know..

That the absolute best way to get the nutrients is to include it in a meal with fats? And that cooking is the best way to have the nutrients released from the rabbits food so that the body can break it down for best absorption.

Yup, Fat. But!!

Don't get crazy with the fats. Just because you need a little does not mean to add a whooping 3 scoop fulls. Check out the Canada Food Guide for their recommended servings on fats for the best information on how to incorporate it properly into your life here.

But really, less then a teaspoon would be plenty.

Carrots and the Jaundice Connection

Something else to note about this veggie: Eating to many can cause jaundice. This is a skin condition most commonly found in new born babies or children who eat too many.

Causing the skin to turn a yellowish colour it can be easily treated by simply decreasing the amount of this vegetable that is ingested.

Please note though that carrots and their vitamins cannot be reproduced into a supplement form, and use of any such supplements should be done under the supervision of your family doctor.

When it comes to Growing Carrots it's easy-peasy-Mac-and Cheesy! As with Onions, when your soil is ready you are going to make a little hole in the mud with your index finger. Drop a couple of carrot seeds in and cover the whole. Water it until the water soaks into the soil, but don't drown the seeds!

After a few weeks of proper care you should start to see little heads popping up showing you your little carrots are growing!
