Cheap Foods: Is The Recession Eating Your Groceries?Cheap Foods ARE for everyone!I don't care who you are, and how much money you make. In these very uncertain times, everyone is looking for cheap foods. At this stage of the game, everyone is feeling the pinch of salt on the wound when it comes to grocery shopping. Discount Grocery Stores are having record breaking sales. Everywhere we turn there are major discounts, sales on foods and bulk buyers. The problem is, that most of us don't know where to go to find cheap foods. And is there a risk? We all know someone who will only shop at the "Big Name Grocery Stores". And let them, with every purchase they are spending sometimes up to 8 times as much as us regular folk who don't mind shopping at bargin grocery stores. But is there good reason to avoid the cheapie foods? Cheap Foods doesn't mean BAD FoodsI am here to tell you (and some of you will not want to hear this) that there is almost no difference except price. Did you catch that "key" word? That's right. Almost. Some people find that the fresh fruit and vegetables aren't the freshest that they could be. However all that means is that they are just a little more riper then at other stores. You must check what you are buying. I fully believe that they can be worth it. In my house we do not eat a lot of canned foods. If it came in a can than it is likely tuna. If you go to a store and the bananas are a little too ripe, remember that if you have a dinner coming up, they are the best ones for banana nut bread. Strawberries, Raspberries and blueberries can all be frozen and make an amazing treat for ontop of a cereal at breakfast! One tip I can give is to never pass up an opportunity. If Spinach is on sale, it can be a great additional to any stir fry, lasagna, or soup! When doing discount grocery shopping you may have to go to three different stores, which doesn't sound like fun. However, planning your entire day around picking up an item like toilet paper and milk, maybe worth the extra stop. In my house I find that the 3 bags of 4L milk does not last here, but the 4L jugs last much longer! Weird eh? I also find that using a "Points" Card helps! If you can spend $5 for toilet paper at the grocery store, or spend $5 for toilet paper and get points for it, why wouldn't you?!! There are some great ideas and tips to getting what you need and getting the most bang for your buck when it comes to cheap foods and discount groceries! Be sure to get the full list!
