Protein: What it is and Why is it so Important?Everyone needs Protein. But, what does matter most is how we get them and what they do!! It is the best way to help support and build muscle. Mental focus is back (just from eating more Omega 3 Fatty Acids). Muscle soreness after workouts..(What kind of meat does that?!) All seem to diminish. By following these links you will see and learn the difference meat and replacements can make. You will be able to use this information when shopping for your next steak dinner, or Atlantic Salmon and Asparagus Dinner. Remember to use caution when eating protein replacements. They are intended for the occasional use, not everyday consumption.
Tuna is another example of the wonders protein can do for your body. High in Omega 3 Fatty Acids, it assists in increasing brain function, as well as helps the body from forming blood clots. A great item to eat before a big exam or before playing a game. Another great tool that few of us consider due to cost is Lamb. Maybe it's the thought of eating a baby sheep that gets us and not the cost but the fact that fat is present on the outside of the meat not the inside should be your deciding factor. Salmon, Trout, and other forms of fish or
seafood
And since Fish is actually a very regulated industry the chances of getting ill due to contamination is not as common. Fish is also very high in Omega 3 Fatty Acids that are good both for Cholesterol as well as overall health.
What about Beef? One of the meats more commonly associated with Mad Cow disease and an increase in cholesterol it lost some popularity over the years. But why do we still at almost 50 lbs of it a year? Probably because of taste. Beef has fat laced throughout it which is what keeps us coming back. Although quite popular at Kids Birthday Parties, Hot Dogs are not as good for you as you may think. No they do not have animal hooves in them, but they are fat, fat, FAT! Yuck, to think of all the fat and grizzle dripping down your chin while eating a hot dog is actually 16 grams of fat. Barf!
