In Canada White Rice is more commonly sold then Brown. However, brown is more healthy for you.
And the benefits of eating brown are stupendous.
Being higher in both fiber and calories, it is filling and nutritional. It also contains selenium (which has anti-cancer properties), Vitamin E (which is good for your hair, skin, and nails), and magnesium (just to name a few).
It is a fantastic addition to soups as well. They offer significant opportunity for someone recovering from diarrhea to form more solid stools and that is why it is apart of the B.R.A.T. diet.
Caution if you do decide to put it into your soup. It has a tendency to expand. And expand. AND EXPAND!!
So be careful when cooking this stuff! Use only twice as much water as you have measured.
**A special note: Ever wonder why it's so prevalent in baby food? Due to the fact that it is so easy to digest as well as being hypoallergenic baby food producers LOVE this additive.
