Spice Storage is not as difficult as we would have once thought. Often we think of having to dry or press them like we would if we were getting something from the container.
From Ketchup to Taco seasoning, the seasonings of today are geared towards you spending more money for less product and worse taste.
Granted, it does take time and patience to put that kick into your food and it's easier to open a jar. But when a bushel of dill, parsley, or cilantro can cost less than $2 and last longer if stored properly why not try to find that time?
Blenders are a great option for making your own salsa and how easy to cut fresh seasoning, put it all in the mix.
At dinner you never hear "Pass me the dill, please", or "Can I please have more parsley?" And why not?
Salt has taken the world by storm. Although the most common food additive, it is also the worst. It causes numerous amounts of damage to your system and decreases your bodily kidney function. Never mind dehydration, sore body parts and numb tongues just to name a few.
Freezer Tips :
Freezing fresh herbs is a great way to savor the taste mid winter. But, a word of caution. When storing seasonings, try to mix them together as it makes it a little easier for when they are removed from the freezer, they are sometimes clumped together.
They will stick to your fingers. But the smell and the nutrients that are frozen inside are so worth the little bit of time it takes.
Lay them flat on a shelf in the freeze and try to spread the herbs within the bag for easier use next time.
