Panic Attack Symptoms: Can You tell me what the panic attack symptoms are and how do I know I'm having one?

by Sasha

I am scared I might be having a panic attack. Or is it a heart attack?

I have been under tremendous stress lately, and with the recession I've lost my job and my wife's is under review. We have 3 kids who are in sports and are all active, but I'm scared it might be a heart attack..

But I've spoken to a few friends and they say it is probably just a panic attack.

How can I tell the difference between heart attack symptoms and panic attack symptoms and what can I do about it?

Panic Attack Symptoms can be scary.. but there is a solution
by: Celeste

Hi Sasha,

Thanks for taking the time to write and ask about panic attack symptoms. The thing with them is that your right, they are very scary and are often attributed to an increase in stress and anxiety.

Some of the most common panic attack symptoms are:
1) Shortness of breath
2) Numbness and tingling
3) and confusion, or light headed-ness.

That's what makes it so scary, and why it can be confused with Heart Attack symptoms. First of all, You should not be surfing the net. IF you are absolutely petrified that these are Heart Attack Symptoms, then you need to be sitting in Emerg somewhere.

Ok, that is my #1 disclaimer. Get your butt to the hospital as I know I would rather find out it is just a panic attack or anxiety attack, than find out the hard way this has been heart attack symptoms.

From my understanding, a panic attack is actually more like an anxiety loop. A situation or trigger that makes the mind react a certain way.

Often the best way to recover from a panic attack is by using breathing techniques and changing your mental focus. It is a "fight or flight" bodily response.

I myself have had considered going to the ER because I thought I was having a heart attack. Turned out my symptoms where completely inaccurate.

But, I had the tingly left arm, the shortness of breath and the chest pains. I would highly suggest taking a look at this "Panic Away". It helps take you through the steps of even breathing and how to work through panic attack symptoms.

Come back and let us know how it worked out for you!
