Quit Smoking Pills? Any good ones out there?

by Brad

Hey,

Do you know of any good quit smoking pills? And by good I mean, I am looking for the "cure all".

I am not looking for something that is going to leave me trembling and screaming at people. I am eager to find quit smoking pills that can reduce my cravings and help me get past the tough part.

What's the rule? Something like after 72 hours is when the cravings actually go away?

Anyway thanks. Anything at this point would be great advice to any of the quit smoking pills out there.

Quit Smoking Pills: Which Quit Smoking Pills Work best?
by: Celeste

Although I am not a huge supporter of herbal magic, I am a supporter of a product that they had called

Q.U.I.T. And it was a pill for helping you quit smoking. Now, I had tried this to help myself quit smoking. It worked great.

Although my commitment time and my time of taking the quit smoking pills were not exactly in line it didn't work, but I can tell you what I did experience while trying this:

There was lots of loosening of phloem from the lungs, a decrease of cravings as well as no increase of cravings for other foods.

This made it a great product for me to try.

However, from my recollection it does have blood thinning herbs in it (like garlic) so if you are on any medications like that I would suggest veering away from this specific product.

I will be posting to my site shortly about quitting smoking and what I did, how it worked and what I have experienced so far.

Quit Smoking Pills
by: Celeste

Alright..

Here it is. The truth behind me and how I quit smoking.

I've done lots of thinking and talked to a lot of people. There were a few things that I have determined to be of the utmost importance when trying to kick the habit.

1) You need a reason. You probably could care less about it, but you need a real reason to stop it. The Most Common Reasons Non-Smokers will give you to quit:

- Quit for Your children
- Be More Healthy
- Think of the Money!!
- You STINK!!!

Sadly, although all very valid, not one of these was very effective for me. Not that any of these things didn't matter to me. They matter very much, but it just wasn't enough.

2) You need to know what your triggers are.
Stress is usually a given, but it isn't until you really quit that you will know exactly what it is that drives you to smoke.

- Increase of Stress
- Driving, Walking, or Talking on the Phone
- Drinking (Social or Otherwise)

3) You have to be strong. Quitting smoking is the hardest things to do, IF YOU LET IT BE.

- In a matter of 72 hours (that is a measly 3 days) you will feel better. This is why you have to be strong.
- What is the hardest part of quitting? Day 2. Day one, was a cake walk compared to day two. On my second day of quitting, I had the jitters, and was craving one so bad I basically avoided EVERYONE.

4) This Too Shall Pass. And yes, it will. And You will know it has passed when you experience a couple of things..

In no particular order:

- You can do a routine without the Cigarette owning your day.
- You have had a morning coffee without a cigarette.. or yelling at anyone ;-)
- You can smell the hair of someone who has recently been around a smoker.
- You can be near your normal 'smoking' locations such as the balcony, the car, at work, without trembling.

5)Somethings you will experience.. When you use my method of quit smoking pills..

lol.. don't laugh at what I used for quit smoking pills..
by: Celeste

Like I said in my previous post, I thought long and hard about what my reason to quit was.

Now, I love my children, but don't smoke near them. I loved being active, but did a triathlon whilst being a smoker. I've been a swimmer, a soccer player, an executive, and unemployed all while smoking.

So.. What finally was the final nail in the coffin? I actually watched a television show.

Yup, sounds sad but that's what it was. I allowed myself to think that this show was myself and my son talking instead of a family trying to loose weight.

And basically, I went to town with it. The last day I had a cigarette my children came home at night. So I planned my final smokes around their return, knowing that I would not leave the house again that night.

My last cigarette was at 11 o'clock pm on Sunday October, 25, 2009.

It may sound like nothing to you, but at 30 yrs old, I've been a smoker for over 16 years.

The first day wasn't that bad. The Quit smoking pills I had on hand were the nicorette lozenges (they tasted yucky after a bit but for sure helped with the nicotine cravings).

They come in I think two different sizes, but I ended up using the 2 mg's and cutting them in half or into quarters. Whenever I wanted a smoke, I just popped one of these into the cheek of my mouth and sucked away until it left a bad taste.

Then, I'd take it out, and in went a Lifesaver.

Yup. A Lifesaver.. I'll give you a minute for a chuckle..

Lol..

Lifesavers were my Quit Smoking Pills.. lol
by: C

Ironic I know..

A lifesaver to save my life.. hahaha but it worked. In no time at all, my mind thought that every time I was having a "Nic-Fit" and I had to have a cigarette, I would start with the Nicorette Lozenge.

After that got gross, I'd take it out, in goes a Lifesaver and my mind thought it was still a lozenge BECAUSE a lifesaver is minty as well.

Within three days I made these changes to my life using these two quit smoking pills.

- I had quit smoking.

- I had eaten more lifesavers in three days than I had in the last 15 years.. haha

- I used "Nibs" and Twizzlers to chew on when I wasn't at home, although I would normally eat celery, heck even a pomegrante will keep your mouth busy the way it needs to be.

- I used less sugar in my coffee.. (Amazing what taste buds do when they can actually function!!)

- I have encouraged a friend to stop smoking as well thereby saving between the two of us approximately $400 in the last 3 weeks.

One thing I have not done is ran around calling myself a NON-(insert S word here).

The reason for that is I would rather look at it this way: I didn't have one yesterday, I probably won't have one today, and I don't even want to think about tomorrow yet.

As I publish this to my website it will (almost) exactly 3 weeks since my last cigarette.. Or

498 hours.. Or

Just shy of $200.

Now, I don't know about you, but I am pretty sure that I can find a better use of $200 than to pay someone to make sure I'm not around to play with my children's children.

And so, that is my quit smoking pills story. Nope, not easy.

Worth it? Every penny!
